43 percent of women suffer from sexual dysfunction

These days, you can hardly walk by a television without seeing an ad for Viagra, Cialis, or any of the other "ED" drugs. ("ED" is the politically correct way of saying "erectile dysfunction.) And because there is a long and now widely known laundry list of sexual woes for men, many assume that only men suffer from sexual dysfunction (SD).

However, nothing could be further from the truth.

According to a new study conducted by Massachusetts General Hospital, women not only suffer from SD, but there is a far higher percentage of women SD sufferers. Shocked? Well, don't be.

While 31 percent of the men in this survey admitted to dealing with at least one kind of SD, a staggering 43 percent of the women surveyed reported that they also wrestled with their own sexual issues. These problems included painful intercourse, a decline of sexual desire, and an inability to achieve orgasms. Ready for a bigger shock: just 12 percent of the women who admitted that they suffered from these problems said that the issues caused them any distress.  Read more

Lauren Zander: The Secret to Facing This Scary World

We human beings are an insecure lot. We wish that we were more confident... that we could tell people what we really think... that we could ask for what we really want… that we could get ourselves to do something important, however much it frightens us. Life coach and regular Daily Health News contributor Lauren Zander says people often ask her how to deal with their insecurity. They wonder how to overcome the fears they bump up against whenever they think about what they truly want from life. The answer, she says, is simple and involves just a single element. Once they get it, people can conquer their fears and experience unshakeable self-confidence. "This comes from one place only -- having personal integrity, which is complete trust in yourself to do what you say you will do," says Lauren. "It seems counterintuitive that a fear of things external could be solved by trust in yourself, but it really is true."

Many people mistakenly believe that integrity is based on their behavior with others, that it means following through if they tell another person that they're going to do something. But personal integrity is really about taking internal responsibility for all your decisions -- not simply doing what your boss says... or taking a stand because you're a board member... or staying on the straight and narrow path because you don't want to get into trouble. These are obligations and forms of outer responsibility, says Lauren. When it comes to themselves, people will say they keep their promises but then will have a list of reasons why they can't eat right, exercise, be patient with family members and so on. "Hanging on to beliefs about why you can't keep promises to yourself enables you to think you have integrity," says Lauren. "But," she points out " your soul always knows the truth." The more often your soul watches as you fail to keep promises to yourself, the more insecure you will feel about your world in general.
"Every day that you fail to do what you should -- just for yourself -- eats away at your self-confidence and respect and erodes one of the most important elements in life, your personal integrity," says Lauren. On the flip side, "People who learn to keep a promise to themselves -- no matter what it is -- have the power to change anything in their life, because they know they can trust themselves to do it," she says.

The Road to Real Integrity
A first step is to consider the primary areas of your life (your health, your career, how you manage your finances, relationships with family, friends and your significant other) and evaluate whether your life is everything that you want it to be in each area. You may have an integrity issue in the parts of your life that don't measure up. The danger here is in not being completely honest, brushing aside situations you consider tolerable rather than identifying them as broken. For instance, you might accept the body that is "okay" instead of trim and healthy... the relationship that's fine but not great… the job you can barely endure but "need" to pay the bills but that dooms you to a life of mediocrity. Wouldn't you rather have the confidence to bring about change? This is how greatness happens.

After you have evaluated five or so major areas of your life, pick one that is really troubling and address it. This will be the start of learning that you can make promises... keep promises... and make a difference in your life. You might decide to stop complaining about your inability to save money and start depositing a few dollars each week in a special account... or decide to eliminate sugar completely from your diet. Start with small steps that are concrete and achievable, as even small achievements can make a big difference.
Next, tell at least one person you are close to about what you are doing and for how long -- this is "practice" for keeping a promise to yourself. "Assign a consequence," urges Lauren. "Perhaps for every minute you're late, you pay the person you leave waiting a dollar, or even a dime." It's not about making it painfully expensive, but rather to help you to stay focused on your commitment to your promise and to teach yourself to stop making excuses. The consequence makes you focus every time you keep or break the promise, so you quickly realize how your excuses have gotten in your way -- telling yourself you need sleep more than exercise today, for instance, or blaming traffic for making you late again. Lauren gets tough with clients who complain that it's impossible to keep a promise, taunting them that if they were paid $1 million to accomplish the task, they'd likely find a way.

Amazing Folk Remedies for Colds, Coughs, Flu, More

Amazing Folk Remedies for Colds, Coughs, Flu, More     Lydia Wilen
Joan Wilen

ot every winter illness requires a trip to the doctor's office. The following time-tested folk remedies offer effective, inexpensive treatments for minor health complaints.
Important: Consult your doctor if your condition persists or grows worse.

COLDS
The average adult contracts between two and four colds each year, mostly between September and May. Medical science has no cure for these highly contagious viral infections, but the following folk remedies can help ward off colds, ease symptoms and possibly shorten a cold's duration...
Garlic. Garlic contains allicin, which has been shown to reduce the severity of a cold. Eat four cloves of freshly crushed raw garlic three times a day until you have recovered.
Cinnamon, sage and bay. Cinnamon contains compounds believed to reduce congestion. Sage can help sooth sore throats. Some Native American cultures have used bay leaves to clear breathing passages. Steep one-half teaspoon each of cinnamon and sage with a bay leaf in six ounces of hot water. Strain and add one tablespoon of lemon juice. Lemon helps reduce mucus buildup. If you like your tea sweet, add honey.
Chicken soup. The Mayo Clinic has said in its health newsletter that chicken soup can be an excellent treatment for head colds and other viral respiratory infections for which antibiotics are not helpful.

FLU
Influenza is a potentially serious viral infection. People often mistake colds for the flu. Colds take hold gradually and are not usually accompanied by severe aches or a fever. The onset of the flu is sudden, and symptoms include fever, severe muscle aches and fatigue.
Garlic and cognac. A shot of cognac is a popular flu remedy in Germany, where it's thought to ease symptoms and help the body cleanse itself. Garlic helps clear mucus, among other potential benefits. Peel and dice a half-pound of garlic. Add one quart of 90-proof cognac, and seal the mixture in an airtight bottle. Store in a cool, dark place for two weeks. Strain out the garlic, and reseal the liquid in the bottle. Prepare a new batch each year.
To treat the flu: Add 20 drops to eight ounces of water. Drink three glasses a day, one before each meal. For prevention: Use 10 to 15 drops, instead of 20, per glass during flu season.
Important: This treatment is not advisable for people who have drinking problems or for children.
Sauerkraut. Sauerkraut's concentration of lactic acid bacteria may weaken infections. Have two tablespoons of sauerkraut juice or about one-half cup of sauerkraut each day during flu season to reduce the chances of infection.

SORE THROATS
Experiment with these remedies until you find what works best for you...
Apple cider vinegar. Vinegar is a powerful anti-inflammatory, and its acidity might help kill the bacteria that cause some sore throats. Add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to six ounces of warm water. Gargle with a mouthful, spit it out, then drink a mouthful. Continue this until the mixture is gone. Rinse your mouth with water to prevent the vinegar from eroding your teeth. Repeat the vinegar gargle every hour for as long as your sore throat persists.
Sage. Sage is an anti-inflammatory. Add one teaspoon of dried sage to one six-ounce cup of boiling water. Steep for three to five minutes, strain, then gargle and swallow.
Lemon and honey. Honey coats the throat, while lemon can temporarily reduce the mucus buildup that often accompanies a sore throat. Squeeze one lemon, add a teaspoon of honey and drink. Repeat every two hours.
Tongue stretching. Stick out your tongue for 30 seconds, relax it for a few seconds, then repeat four times. This is believed to increase blood flow to the throat, speeding the healing process.
COUGHS
Try these folk remedies to figure out which works best for you...
Lemon, honey and olive oil. Honey and olive oil coat and soothe, while lemon reduces mucus. Heat one cup of honey, a half cup of olive oil and the juice of one lemon over a medium flame for five minutes. Turn off the heat, and stir for two minutes to blend the ingredients. Consume one teaspoon of the mixture every two hours.

Vinegar and cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, a proven painkiller, while vinegar serves as an anti-inflammatory. Add a half cup of apple cider vinegar and one teaspoon of cayenne pepper to one-half cup of water. Add honey if desired. Take one tablespoon when your cough acts up and another tablespoon before bed.
Horseradish and honey. Horseradish can help loosen mucus, while honey coats the throat. Grate one teaspoon of fresh, peeled horseradish into two teaspoons of honey. Consume one teaspoon every two to three hours.

Ginger. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory that contains gingerols, which provide pain-reducing and sedative benefits. Chew a piece of fresh, peeled gingerroot when you feel the cough acting up, usually in the evening before bed. Chew until the ginger loses its kick.
Licoric-root tea. Licorice relieves the pain of irritated mucous membranes. Drink licorice-root tea as long as your cough persists.
Note: Don't try licorice root if you have high blood pressure or kidney problems.

where are you sexual godess and prince -chuckle where did the itch go ?

Can Life Without Sex Be Happy?
In a world where we hear endless details of celebrity sexual addictions and behaviors, it's not always easy to know what's normal, excessive or lacking when it comes to an individual's sex drive. Is it ever okay to have absolutely no sexual desire? Is this part of the normal continuum of behavior, or does the total absence of desire indicate that something physical or emotional is amiss? The concept of asexuality as a normal variation is currently being evaluated by the authors of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (the guidebook used by mental health professionals). They called it "Inhibited Sexual Desire" in the 1980 version and modified it slightly to "Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder" in 1987 -- but some now argue that there is no need for a diagnosis or to label it a "disorder" for those who feel complete and fulfilled living an asexual lifestyle.
I asked Nicole Prause, PhD, who has coauthored several studies on asexuals (the preferred term) about all this. She told me that there's plenty of evidence that asexuality is real, but she does not believe it belongs in a guidebook of psychiatric diagnoses at all. "I see no evidence of asexuality as a disorder that requires treatment," she explains. Dr. Prause says that her 2007 study (published in Archives of Sexual Behavior) found no evidence that the absence of interest is always rooted in a sexual trauma or that it is evidence of an underlying hormonal imbalance or other pathology. (Note: Any or all of these may sometimes precipitate decreased sexual desire.) She also noted that people don't report "growing out of it" but rather tend to retain their asexuality as they age.
Asexual Choices
Dr. Prause cited a study that found that asexuality occurs in both genders and is thought to affect about 1% of the general population. Not all asexuals actually are celibate. Some report that they engage in sexual activity to please their partners, and an earlier study found that 44% of asexual respondents were in relationships (heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual).
Most interesting to me was that Dr. Prause said that her research has found that most asexuals are not unhappy about their lack of sexual desire. In fact, they cited several benefits -- including not having to deal with the complexities and difficulties of intimate relationships... feeling less social pressure to be attractive in order to find a partner... even, in some cases, a perception that the lifestyle gives them the benefit of more free time. Some drawbacks were acknowledged as well, such as the difficulty of establishing couple relationships that don't include sex... concern about whether their asexuality has a problematic cause... a negative public perception of asexuality... and curiosity about desire and sex, as well as some sadness about not enjoying its positive aspects, including closeness and the excitement of attraction.
Are You Asexual?
The online site Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN) now has 30,000 registered members (http://www.asexuality.org/home/). Dr. Prause suggests that the site might be helpful to anyone wanting to learn more about asexuality and pointed out that it is a good place to find and talk to like-minded people. And, noting that this research is still very preliminary, she said that people who do find their lack of desire troublesome should absolutely visit a physician and/or psychologist to investigate whether there might be a root cause that should be addressed.
Dr. Prause adds that we would all do well to keep in mind that there is a tremendous and normal variability of sexuality, as sex researcher Dr. Alfred Kinsey discovered many years ago. There are people who are willing to put their marriages, even their lives, at risk for the sake of exercising their high-pitched sexual drive. Why then, she asks, should it be surprising that there are people at the other end of the spectrum?

Good renewal food for thought- It’s easier to get 10 people to work for you than for you to do the work of 10

Why Your Not-To-Do List Is More Important Than Your To-Do List

Gary Bencivenga  Success Bullets

W e all have the same 24 hours in a day, yet some people accomplish so much more than others. What are their secrets? Here are the best ways to boost productivity from some of the brightest minds on the subject...

SMARTER STRATEGIES

Apply the 80/20 rule to everything. Roughly 20% of your daily activities are responsible for 80% of your success, income and personal happiness. These are your "big-payoff" activities.
Conversely, 20% of your activities are causing 80% of your wasted time. These are your "low-payoff" activities.

The best way to multiply your productivity is simple -- always be looking to free up more time for your big-payoff activities by ruthlessly eliminating the dozens of low-payoff ones that you unwittingly tolerate.

Example: One of the most successful executives I know keeps a framed sign over his desk and carries an index card in his shirt pocket with the same message -- Is this leading me to my main goal? He checks that reminder numerous times a day and saves countless hours each week by staying on track -- cutting off quickly from time-wasting phone calls, meetings, gossip, etc., and relentlessly getting back to the big-payoff activities for himself and his company.

Harness your "hour of power." Whatever your highest-payoff activity, rise early and give it the first hour of your day -- what I call your "hour of power." This gets your day off to a highly productive start.

The late Earl Nightingale, a management guru, explained that if you spend this early-morning hour in the study of your chosen field, you'll be a national expert in five years or less.
Gain six to eight extra hours of productivity every day. Your second-most-productive hour is right before you go to sleep. This is a great time to leverage your productivity by arranging for your mighty subconscious mind to solve a problem while you sleep peacefully.

How to do it: Just before going to bed, think about a problem or question that you're working on. Then say to yourself, Great subconscious mind, I don't want to work on this matter too hard, so please just figure this out for me by the morning while I sleep peacefully. Then completely forget about the matter and drift off to sleep.

You'll likely find that during your hour of power the next morning, you will be brimming over with ideas that are perfect for your project. Be aware that your morning ideas are slippery fish. If you don't catch them immediately on getting up, they'll swim away forever. Keep a pad and pen at your bedside to capture your ideas.

Don't carry your "to-do" list in your head. You not only will forget things that are on the list, but an inner voice will perpetually nag that you must be dropping balls somewhere. Use a written to-do list to capture everything you must remember -- every phone call, task and follow-up action. Review the most urgent and important items daily, and all items weekly.
Don't multitask. As Confucius said, "A man who chases two rabbits catches neither." Modern studies show that when you try to accomplish two activities that require focused attention at the same time, both suffer significantly.

Slow down. When focusing on one high-priority item at a time, don't rush through it. You do your best thinking when you are focused and relaxed. As Mae West advised with a wink, "Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly."

Get enough sleep. Research shows that your productivity, clarity, alertness, judgment, creativity, memory, motivation, relaxation, cheerfulness and lots of other wonderful qualities all thrive on adequate sleep and suffer without it. Also consider an afternoon nap -- one of life's most rejuvenating luxuries.

Do what you love. It's much easier to be productive when your work is your play. You will want to give it your full attention and every minute you can -- and you easily will brush off countless distractions that seduce others. So in all of your activities and goals, and especially when deciding which to choose as your highest priorities, remember the words of editor and author Christopher Morley, "There is only one success -- to be able to spend your life in your own way."

YOUR "NOT-TO-DO" LIST
Your not-to-do list is even more important than your to-do list. You must work every day to minimize or get rid of those 20% of activities that are wasting 80% of your time -- by maintaining a not-to-do list. Helpful...

Never answer e-mail in the morning. Reserve your precious morning time for your highest-payoff activities. Also, shut off your e-mail program for most of the day so that you won't be interrupted by each new incoming message. Limit reviewing your e-mail to specific periods, perhaps once around noon and again later in the day. Keep replies short with answers such as, "Thanks"... "Look forward to it" ... "Will do"... or "I agree."

Don't answer phones just because they ring. Too often, it is a salesperson, fund-raiser or other pesky soul out to waste your time and ruin your focus. Have an assistant or answering machine screen your calls, or let them go to voice mail. As psychiatrist Edward M. Hallowell, MD, author of Crazy Busy, says, "If you don't manage your time, it will be taken from you."

Flex your no muscle. Whenever someone asks you to do something that you would rather not do, remember this simple two-part formula -- (1) "Thanks for asking" (for having confidence that I could do this, etc.), (2) "I can't, because... " (you've just been given a major new assignment or whatever) "so I wouldn't be able to give it the time that it deserves." If the petitioner persists, don't debate the issue. Just keep robotically repeating your reason for declining, and the person soon will let you alone.

Of course, if the person making the request is your boss, remember that he/she is your number-one customer and that it's important to be on the same page about what's important. Sound out whether this new request supersedes your current tasks. In other words, know what is most important at all times, and put your focus there.

Ask two questions of every task: (1) Does this have to be done? (2) If so, does it have to be done by me? In all matters, strive to be not just efficient but effective. Efficient means doing things right, but effective means doing the right things -- which is far more important.
Delegate the kaizen way. If you're a control freak and can't delegate easily, do it the kaizen way. Kaizen is the Japanese approach of continuous improvement with small, nonthreatening, easy-to-take baby steps. Ask someone to do a small task for you. As soon as you're comfortable with one delegation baby-step, take another, and so on. It's easier to get 10 people to work for you than for you to do the work of 10

Give a "dream" gift this Christmas

1. Follow Your Dream

Jesus said, "According to your faith let it be to you."1

Walt Disney—certainly a creator and fulfiller of dreams—said, "Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret—curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable."

Living in Southern California I still like going to Disneyland and appreciate it more today than ever, knowing that Disney went broke six times (I believe it was) and had a nervous breakdown before becoming successful. Walt succeeded because he was a man with a dream of what could be and the determination to make it happen.

As George Bernard Shaw said, "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?"

And as Edward Everett Hale said, "I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do."

For the Christian, while none of us may be "called" to be a Walt Disney, a Robert Kennedy, or a Martin Luther King, God has a purpose for every one of us. Each of us needs to discover what that purpose is, turn it into a dream and, with God's help, work to fulfill it. In so doing we, too, will make an impact on at least one other life, and for many of us, an impact on many lives. And then, when we come to the end of life's journey, we will hear God's welcoming words, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord."2

When our dream is a God-given one, we don't have to dream the impossible dream. For with God all things are possible. Not that fulfilling the dream will come easily. In all probability it will be a life challenging task. But think of the ancient Israelites to whom God gave the Promised Land. God didn't hand it to them on a silver platter. Only where they planted the soles of their feet did it become theirs—and they had to battle for every inch of the way. However, had not God given it to them, it would have been an impossible dream–and even today it would be impossible for them to survive without God's protection. Let's each claim God's dream he has for us.

New Technology to Monitor Health and Safety

New Technology to Monitor Health and Safety
I'm impressed by some new technologies I am seeing and reading about that have the potential to improve the quality of life for people with chronic health problems -- and most particularly for elderly men and women who want to continue to live independently. I'm talking about devices that measure and track data, such as weight and blood pressure, over time, others that nudge people to take medications or perform physical therapy exercises, and yet others that send an alert to a designated recipient if something seems amiss -- for instance, on a morning when the monitored person doesn't get out of bed or there is a precipitous rise or drop in his/her blood pressure. In worst-case scenarios, a call is placed to 911 so that life-saving help comes quickly.
"Chronic health issues are driving this market and the development of these devices," says Susan Ayers Walker, managing director of the SmartSilvers Alliance and the Digital Health Summit at the annual Consumer Electronics Show, the world's largest annual consumer-technology trade show, where such products are typically introduced.
The field itself is new, but the technology isn't, I was told by Jeffrey Kaye, MD, director of the Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center at Oregon Health & Science University. He said the real breakthroughs are in the adaptations. For example, products like Life Alert -- worn as a pendant or wristwatch -- already enable seniors to call for help if they fall and can't get up or if another emergency occurs. Now a new product from Grandcare uses motion sensors to get the same result without the need to push a button or wear a device. Another product monitors heart failure patients to measure water retention through weight gain. "Now you can instrument a standard bathroom scale to send a signal to a health professional with simple software that charts a patient's weight within certain parameters," he explains.

Here are some of the technologies currently in use or being developed...
Home monitoring:
Grandcare systems (www.grandcare.com) offers a customizable combination of motion sensors, weight monitoring, prescription reminders, general messages from family and more. The system also gives seniors other reasons to want to interact with it... a TV interface can provide users with updates of photos, local weather, news and more.
Prescription monitoring:
For patients taking several medications but who are not sick enough to require full-time care, MedSignals (www.medsignals.com) monitors up to four prescriptions at a time, records when the pills are taken, and sends information to a designated party (a family member, doctor or other caregiver) to monitor use.
GlowCaps (www.rxvitality.com) are special prescription bottle tops that flash and play music when it's time to take a pill... order refills for you... and send a weekly report on use (caps can monitor when and how often they are opened) to physicians and family members.
Assisted living:
Elite Care (www.elitecare.com), an assisted-living facility in Oregon, uses monitoring technology to help care for its residents, assuming that the patient has granted permission to be monitored. Behavior and cognitive function are monitored unobtrusively to track changes that can signal decline or the onset of disease.
We're Not There Yet...
These products are available but expensive, and at present, few are covered by insurance. Also, standards for devices still are being developed. Add in concerns about privacy (who gets to see this electronic medical information and what can be done with it)... liability (if the system makes a mistake, who is to blame?)... and physician participation (do doctors have the capability to handle all this data?), and it becomes clear that there are still some kinks to be worked out with these systems.
Even so, their time is surely coming. Major companies, such as Microsoft (www.healthvault.com), Google (www.google.com/health), GE, Philips and Intel, are already hard at work on their own plans and products. Industry standards and design guidelines are being developed (www.continuaalliance.org).

Stop the guilt thrower-catcher syndrome in the new year

Guilt-Throwers Vs. Guilt-Catchers

"Instead, we will lovingly follow the truth at all times—speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly—and so become more and more in every way like Christ."1

Another Daily Encounter reader asks, "I'm in my fifties and my mother is still controlling me with guilt. What can I do to stop her?"

Strange as it may seem but this woman is not alone in her situation by any means. Some parents want to control even their adult children until the day they die.

My answer to the woman was, "You can't stop your mother from being a guilt-thrower, but you can stop being a guilt-catcher."

Guilt-throwing and guilt-catching are two sides of the same coin. Guilt-throwers only throw guilt to guilt-catchers … both are involved in "this dance of guilt" (false guilt, that is). You can't have one without the other. Both are equally in need of help. The fact is that nobody can make me feel guilty or anything else without my cooperation and permission.

What the guilt-thrower does is his problem. How I respond is always my responsibility. That is, if I am a guilt-catcher, that's my problem and my responsibility to overcome. And while I can't stop or change the guilt-thrower, I can change myself and stop catching the guilt that others throw in my direction.

To change myself I need to acknowledge my part and admit that I, too, have a problem. I'm a guilt-catcher because I probably learned it in childhood, and am afraid to say no for fear I won't be liked, or because I'm afraid of conflict. But underneath, when I allow myself to be controlled by guilt or anything else, I feel frustrated and angry!

Two things we need to do to stop being a guilt-catcher. One is long-term. The other is short-term. Regarding the long-term, I need to keep working on my own growth so that I develop a healthy self-concept so it doesn't bother me to say no to someone regardless of whether they like me or not. For immediate results, one of the most helpful things to do is to recognize immediately when someone is trying to lay a guilt trip on you and say kindly but firmly to them, "You're not trying to make me feel guilty are you?"

Of course they will deny it, but if you keep responding in this manner, it won't take long before they will stop throwing guilt your way and look for someone else who will catch it.

If you happen to be a guilt-thrower, the same principles for recovery apply. You need to get into a growth program so you can develop a healthy self-concept so you don't need to be in control of every situation in order to feel okay about yourself. Recognize what you are doing and see how harmful this is to yourself and to others and, with God's help, little by little stop doing it.

Pandemic panic still doesn't add up

The feds, Big Pharma and doctors who should know better are all lining up to tell you how safe the swine flu shot is.

Don't you fall for it! Almost every day, I'm seeing new stories about misled people who roll up their sleeves for that "safe" vaccine... and then pass out, get sick or even die.

Let's get real here and look at the facts, not media hysterics.

A 14-year-old athlete in Virginia can barely walk after his swine flu shot. He's struggling with Guillain-Barre syndrome after his vaccine. A young woman in France is facing the same battle – again, right after a swine flu shot.

By some estimates, there was an eight-fold increase in Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare and debilitating autoimmune disorder that can lead to paralysis and death, after the 1976 swine flu vaccination panic.

Are we facing the same thing now? It's hard to say, but clearly something is going on with these dangerous needles.

In China, two people dropped dead right after getting vaccinated. In New York, nurses gave swine flu shots to at least two kids without permission from their parents – sending one of the kids, a 6-year-old epileptic, to the hospital. And U.S. medical workers are fighting courtroom battles to protect their rights and avoid mandatory flu shots.

The contradictions here are endless. On the one hand, the Centers for Disease Control has advised against testing for H1N1 flu since July.

On the other, a new swine flu detection test was just given fast-track approval by the FDA.

The CDC says we don't need to count individual cases anymore... yet everywhere you turn, there are new numbers being tossed around from all directions.

How do we know people are sick if we're not counting them? Why do we need a new and unproven test for the disease if we no longer need to test for it?

Now, Big Pharma is saying maybe people only need half a dose of the swine flu vaccine to get full protection... after telling some people they'd need as many as two or even three doses (Side note: I'll bet my lab coat you'll pay just as much for that half a dirty dose as you do a full one).

Plenty of people have already gotten that now-excessive full dose... with many children getting two shots. Does that mean they've gotten quadruple what they need?

Yes, there's a lot more to this picture than they're letting any of us see... and it may be years before the truth finally comes out.

You've been warned.

And that's not the only health scandal – keep reading to find out how the government is failing to protect you from a common toxin.

Supercharge your favorite food into a SUPERFOOD

First it was broccoli... Then pomegranate... And now acai? I can't even pronounce it -- and, I don't know about you, but I certainly can't find it in my supermarket. But if you listen to the health "experts," these so-called "superfoods" are the ONLY WAY to get -- and stay -- healthy.

Want to know the truth?

You don't need ANY of them!

Find out the incredibly simple secret that lets you supercharge your favorite foods into health foods...

Common chemical linked to erectile dysfunction

A common chemical in plastics is making men a lot less manly.

A study in China finds that bisphenol A – better known as BPA – can cause erectile dysfunction and other sexual problems.

It's a crime that we're still debating the safety of this toxic chemical, with our own government playing blind, deaf, dumb and stupid. This is quickly turning into one of the biggest health scandals in generations.

This estrogen-like chemical has been used for years to make plastics stronger and prevent corrosion in cans. Pretty much all of us have been exposed to it, many of us in amounts much greater than what the Environmental Protection Agency thinks is safe.

Believe me, it's not safe. BPA has been linked to diabetes, heart disease, liver problems, brain disorders, hormonal disruption, early puberty in girls, irregular heartbeat, fertility problems and, now, erectile dysfunction.

The Chinese study looked at humans, not lab rats – real men who worked in a factory that produces BPA, and compared them to men who worked in BPA-free factories.

The researchers found a direct connection between BPA exposure and sexual dysfunction. The greater the exposure, the greater the odds of sex problems.

What's more, they found that even workers who were at the BPA-producing factory for just one year had increased odds of sexual dysfunction.

Sure, they may have been exposed to higher concentrations of this toxin... but many of us have been exposed to steady amounts of BPA since birth. Until recently, it was a common ingredient in plastic baby bottles – yet another reason you should be extra thankful if your mother had the good sense to breastfeed you.

Meanwhile, Uncle Sam is acting more like an old man with dementia... ignoring the real data as this junk continues to flow through bottles, cans and our own bodies. More than a year ago, the FDA actually issued a draft report saying BPA was probably safe. I'm guessing they did this in between naps.

If you're wondering how they could possibly reach that conclusion, it's because they used studies provided by the chemical industry.

They wouldn't lie to us... would they?

Some people aren't waiting. After state lawmakers threatened to intervene, the major manufacturers of baby bottles have stopped using this toxic chemical. If they can make the switch without destroying their industry, I'm pretty sure all the other companies that use this garbage can find their own BPA-free solutions as well.

In the meantime, don't eat anything out of a can or bottle if you can avoid it. Most of the stuff inside is the worst form of imitation food anyway, so you're not missing much... except a chance at being exposed to a toxic chemical.

Talking truth about toxins,

William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

new approach?

HIV vaccine research takes new direction
DURHAM, N.C. (UPI) -- U.S. scientists seeking a vaccine for the human immunodeficiency virus say a study of HIV antibodies is leading them in a new direction.

The Duke University Medical Center-led researchers said that new direction came from a detailed study of how the most robust antibodies work to block the HIV as it seeks entry into healthy cells.

"Our study clearly showed that we've been overlooking a very important component of antibody function," said S. Munir Alam, associate professor of medicine and lead author of the study.

Alam and Harvard Medical School Assistant Professor Bing Chen said they studied two potentially powerful antibodies against HIV, 2F5 and 4E10. Both of are rare, broadly neutralizing antibodies, meaning they can block a number of strains of HIV, the scientists said.

The researchers found successful docking of the antibody to the HIV outer coat membrane region required antibody attachment to the virus's membrane, which contains lipid.

"This two-step mechanism, not previously appreciated, might extend to antibodies that protect against other viruses," said study co-author Stephen Harrison of Harvard Medical School.

The researchers said they are now designing a vaccine that incorporates a lipid component and design trials are now being conducted on animals.

The findings are detailed in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The Law is the Law -food for thought on political correctness

Opinion from a reader THE LAW IS THE LAW!

I really love this one. This is one of the better e-mails I have received in a long time! I hope this makes its way around Canada several times over!    So Be It!

THE LAW IS THE LAW

So if the Canadian government determines that it is against the law for the words 'under God' to be on our money, then, so be it.

And if that same government decides that the 'Ten Commandments' are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

I say, 'so be it,' because I would like to be a law-abiding Canadian citizen.

I say, 'so be it,' because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions. I would like to think that those people have the Canadian public's best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God,
can't Trust in God and
cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings,

I don't believe that the Government and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of Canadian life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Easter.

After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the 'Canadian Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Easter, as well as Sundays.'
After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the Senate and the House of Commons
to not have to worry about getting home for the'Christmas Break'.
After all, it's just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved,
if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be 'politically correct'.

In fact....

I think that our government should work on Sundays
(initially set aside for worshipping God...)
because, after all, our government says that it should be
just another day.

What do you all think????

If this idea gets to enough people, may be our elected officials
will stop giving in to the 'minority opinions' and begin, once again, to represent the 'MAJORITY' of ALL the Canadian people.

SO BE IT...........

Please Dear Lord,
Give us the help needed to keep you in our country!
'Amen' and 'Amen '

These are definitely things I never thought about, but from now on I will be sure to question those in government who support these changes.

At the top, it says
'I hope this makes its way around CANADA several times over!!!!!'

Let's see that it does..
Amen and Amen!

Erection meds get bad boost

Just when men are starting to realize that there are real problems with pointless ED pills, these dangerous drugs get a lift from a most unlikely place.

The American College of Physicians -- a group I've had some respect for, until now -- is suggesting that docs get more patients on drugs like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra.

No, wait -- "suggesting" is too mild a word. These fools are falling all over themselves to get you on those drugs. They issued a bulletin saying they "strongly recommend" these pills for ANYONE who's had erectile dysfunction for three months, as long as they don't have any underlying conditions that could be hurt by the meds.

Whoa, Nellie! What's the rush? Why not advise docs to take more time to find out what's causing those bedroom blues... instead of shooting off penis pill prescriptions?

I'm guessing they haven't heard of foreplay, either.

"Patients need to know that erectile dysfunction is a common disorder. Physicians need to be made aware of it, too," Dr. Amir Qaseem, senior medical associate at the American College of Physicians, told the New York Times.

No qualms there, bud. But where have you been? It was a common disorder before all these meds came out, too. The only difference now is we're forced to watch an endless stream of tasteless commercials for these drugs instead of finding the real answers to erectile dysfunction.

And most of the time they just gloss over the fact that these sex meds that come with side effects like diarrhea, headaches, nausea and vision problems.

So maybe you'll have to press the "pause" button on your romantic evening as you run to the bathroom -- assuming you can find it while coping with those vision problems. While you're there, pop a painkiller to make that headache go away then hurry back to the bedroom and finish up before you get the runs again.

Feeling sexy yet?

If you're still not in the mood, just think of that other famous side effect: prolonged erections that could require emergency surgery on your penis.

But don't worry -- you don't have to put up with any of that.

Keep reading for more...

Confidence rules the bedroom roost

It's no secret -- when it comes to the bedroom, confidence is king.

A new survey bears that out -- 95 percent of European adults believe a man's confidence is the top factor for great sex. The survey also found that only half of all European men between the ages of 55 and 64 experience hard erections... the key to that confidence.

But wait a minute... it turns out this survey was commissioned by Pfizer, makers of Viagra. And they want you to know there's a quick way to get that confidence boost -- as long as you're ready for the side effects: diarrhea, headaches, nausea, vision problems, and painful erections that require a trip to the emergency room.

Ready to sign up yet?

Of course not. But don't worry, I promised a real answer and here it is: testosterone.

As we get older, our testosterone levels drop. As we get fatter, our testosterone levels drop. So if you're older AND fatter, your sexual function has taken a one-two punch in the gonads.

If you're having erectile problems, ask your doctor to check your testosterone levels. If they're low -- and if you're over 50, chances are they will be, no matter what you weigh -- consider asking your doc for an injection. Don't worry... he'll stick the needle in your butt or thigh, not your penis.

Then, if you're overweight, lose the extra pounds or you'll be right back where you started.

Some men might need a little bit more of a boost. Or maybe your testosterone levels are fine -- but you're still having problems in a sack.

You still don't need to turn to drugs.

Zinc, vitamin E and fish oil are great supplements to help keep your circulatory system functioning -- and that includes pumping blood to your penis. Natural herbs like ginseng, yohimbine, and maca root have also helped many people get in the mood.

You can get stronger, harder and better -- and you can do it without inviting Big Pharma into the bedroom.

Paging Dr. Johnson,

William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

AN OBITUARY to reason -- good reading from London times,

An Obituary printed in the London Times

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing

The magic of honey and cinnamon

It can only help -with no side effects

Cinnamon and Honey
Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing".   When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey.

Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around..  Facts on Honey and Cinnamon:  It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases.  Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.

Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients.   Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack.  Also, those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack.. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat.  In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS:
Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured.. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS:
